Aluminium production worldwide

The global demand for aluminium has increased strongly in recent years – not least because of the dynamic development in Asia, and in China in particular. The figures presented here give an overview of the production of aluminium worldwide.

Production of primary aluminium worldwide

Some 53 million tonnes of primary aluminium were produced worldwide in 2014. Steady growth has been reported since 2010. Production rose 8.3 per cent year-on-year in 2014. Asia showed over 16 per cent growth in 2014 and thus a further increase in production rates. In all other regions of the world there was a slight decline in production compared with 2013.

Production of recycled aluminium worldwide

Global production of recycled aluminium increased by about two per cent in 2014. The production figures showed a similar trend in all regions of the world. Of the quantity produced globally, the American continent accounted for about 45 per cent, Europe for about 26 per cent and Asia for some 28 per cent.
