Constellium partners with Nespresso to recycle used aluminium capsules in Switzerland

Nespresso and Constellium are cooperating in the recycling of used coffee capsules. This collaboration is part of the "Second Life" project that will be carried out in Switzerland where Nespresso has its headquarters.


ALUMINIUM 2016 Conference

The official programme for the ALUMINIUM 2016 Conference from 29 November – 1 December 2016 in Düsseldorf is now complete. For the fourth time now the conference for the world's largest aluminium trade fair is being planned and organised by the GDAtogether with the exhibition organiser Reed.


Kjetil Ebbesberg will take on the position of Chairman of European Aluminium

As Vice-Chairman of European Aluminium since 2015, Kjetil Ebbesberg will statutorily replace Pierre Vareille as Chairman until the next General Assembly in autumn of this year. Kjetil Ebbesberg is Executive Vice President of the Rolled Products business area at Hydro.

TRIMET aluminium smelter in Voerde again producing at full capacity

Just two years after being taken over by Trimet Aluminium in Essen, the aluminium smelter in Voerde is again working at maximum production capacity. The total of 188 electrolytic furnaces have an annual capacity of 95,000 tonnes of aluminium.


Hueck Lava doors and fixed glazing now certified as "fire-resistant building components"

The modular Hueck Lava fire protection system is the first modular system to obtain the general building inspection certification for fixed glazing and doors with a fire-resistance classification of 90 min., and with the rating "fire-resistant".


New study presented on ecological effects of the dual system

The dual system is already making a strong contribution to climate and environmental protection, but it could do even more with the right general conditions. This is the outcome of a comprehensive study presented by the "Öko-Institut" and "Der Grüne Punkt" in Berlin.

All-alu E-car bodies get lighter than 200 kg

Electro-mobility can overcome weight challenges with a full aluminium light e-body concept. Developed by Hydro with the fka institute, it brings car body weight down to less than 200 kilograms. All cars need to lose weight to reduce emissions in safe, reliable ways.

The wind turbine producer and operator Enercon has built a monumental theme centre (EEZ) in Aurich and it works sensationally as public setting for shining a spotlight on wind energy and all its potential.


Jaguar reaches significant recycling milestone

In the 2015/16 fiscal year Jaguar Land Rover recycled more than 50,000 tonnes of aluminium production scrap and fed it back to the production process in the REALCAR recycling project. According to Jaguar, that is the equivalent of the weight of around 200,000 Jaguar XE car bodies.


Hydro commissions new recycling line for used beverage cans

At its Neuss plant Hydro Aluminium has commissioned a new recycling line, which is projected to recycle up to 50,000 tonnes of used beverage cans per year. A total of EUR 45 million was invested in the line, creating 40 new jobs in Neuss.


AMAG renewed Contract of CEO Helmut Wieser

AMAG Austria Metall AG’s Supervisory Board reached a unanimous decision in its meeting on 12 April 2016 to prematurely renew the contract of Chief Executive Officer Helmut Wieser until 31 December 2018. AMAG is supplier of aluminium cast and flat rolled products.


European Aluminium Award 2016 - Applications now accepted

Presented for the 10th time, European Aluminium Award 2016, the most important prize of the aluminium industry honours the sector’s innovations. The Award Ceremony will take place at ALUMINIUM 2016 in Düsseldorf on 29 November. The application deadline is 15 July 2016.


Coffee capsules made of aluminum are ideal for recycling

Coffee capsules made of aluminum can be very effectively recycled when consumers deposit them in the Yellow Bin or the Yellow Sack in Germany. "We can recover a high proportion of the capsules’ material and return it to the aluminum circuit," says Michael Wiener, CEO of Duales System Holding.


Market for aluminium aerosol cans stable at high level in 2015

The production of aluminium aerosol cans worldwide remained stable at a high level in 2015. The member companies of AEROBAL reported total production of 5.4 billion aluminium cans and thus a repeat of the previous year’s record result.
