Former Aleris extrusion division now called ST Extruded Products
At the end of February Aleris concluded the sales of its aluminium extrusion division to the Japanese company Sankyo Tateyama, and its business area for the recycling and manufacture of specific alloys in North America and Europe. The sale of the aluminium extrusion division comprises four production sites in Europe and another one in China. The new division is now doing business under the name “ST Extruded Products”. The Japanese technology company Sankyo Tateyama employs 8000 workers, has a turnover of 2.9 billion US dollars annually, and operates 23 extrusion presses worldwide in 16 plants.
With the sale of its extrusion press activities Aleris is realigning strategically and focusing on business in the area of aluminium rolled products. With the conclusion of these two transactions the new setup of Aleris comprises 14 manufacturing plants for aluminium rolled products in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region as well as an additional five global innovation centres, which concentrate on research and development.
“With the sale of our extrusion division just completed, we can now focus our attention fully on the development of our aluminium rolled products business, where we are constantly investing in our capacities in order to supply branches such as the automotive industry, the aerospace industry, and the construction sector in the best way possible," Steve Demetriou, Chairman and CEO of Aleris.
