White Gold; also available in English. The video describes the production of aluminium oxide via the processing of bauxite. The Bayer process used for the treatment takes centre stage in the film. The combination of diagrams with company photos for the individual treatment steps illustrates very clearly the process for extracting ‘white gold’ from red earth.

"Walyamirri" - Rekultivierung

Walyamirri – Rehabilitation; in German only. This covers the rehabilitation of the Gove mine in Australia with the involvement of the local Aborigines. With impressive images, the film describes the rehabilitation approach adopted by Alusuisse and its Australian partners prior to development of the Gove mine in 1968. It shows how important the involvement of the Aborigines is for the recovery of an almost intact ecosystem.

aluMATTER

aluMATTER is an educational, interactive, modular e-learning course covering the metallurgy of aluminium that is accessible free of charge via the Internet.

The course was developed jointly with the European Aluminium Association (EAA), the European aluminium industry and numerous European university institutes as well as the University of Liverpool; it is intended for use in the training and further education of students at technical colleges as well as engineers working in industry.
