The aluminium industry had a turnover of about 14.9 bn euros in 2008 (2003 = 13.1 bn euros). More than two-thirds of the turnover was attributable to the producers of raw aluminium and aluminium semi-finished products; companies involved in the further processing of aluminium accounted for some 2,4 bn euros in 2008.
