GDA presents itself with its teaching materials at education exhibition in Hannover

30.01.12 From 14 to 18 February 2012 at the didacta education exhibition in Hannover the GDA will be presenting its teaching materials on the subject of aluminium. The GDA will be present at stand D38/1 in hall 15. There, they are presenting not only various teaching materials and information sheets, but also a two-part teaching DVD in three languages.

CO2 regulation to trigger growth in lightweight construction in the three-digit billions range

30.01.12 By 2030 automobile manufactures must raise from 30 to 70 per cent the proportion of lightweight parts in vehicles to compensate for the increase in the weight of vehicles which is caused by electric drives and fuel efficient engine technology.

Aluminium packaging: recycling protects the climate - Rate of recycling rises to new peak level of 86.4%

25.01.12 For aluminium packaging the positive trend in recycling continues. According to a current study by GVM , Mainz, in the year 2010 79,300 tonnes of the 91,800 tonnes on the market were recycled. This equals a rate of recycling of 86.4%.

Euroguss 2012: Meeting place of the die casting branch in Nuremberg

16.01.12 The international die casting trade will be meeting at Euroguss from 17 to 19 January 2012 on the exhibition grounds in Nuremberg. Around 400 exhibitors and more than 7000 trade visitors are expected. The economic situation in the die casting industry has considerably improved again after the financial and economic crisis. Figures in the branch are near the old record levels.

Aleris in Koblenz building new foundry for production of lightweight aluminium-lithium alloys

09.01.12 At its site in Koblenz, Germany, Aleris will be building a new foundry for the production of aluminium-lithium plates, which are in strong demand in the aerospace branch. Because of their low weight, aluminium-lithium alloys raise fuel efficiency. They also raise strength, as well as resistance to corrosion and fatigue.
