“Italo-Smart” has aluminium framework

Made in Italy: Tazzari ZERO electro-roadster

Tazzari ZERO
01.03.10 -
Who wouldn’t like to drive though a town without causing pollution? The Italian Tazzari Group, which specialises in mechanical engineering and aluminium fabrication, is now making this possible in Germany. The brash and colourful Tazzari ZERO is the first Italian electrical sports car to enter the German market. Smiles AG, Germany’s largest specialist for electrical vehicles, is now offering this stylish runabout.

With the 2.89 metre long and 1.40 metre high Tazzari ZERO two-seater, the Tazzari Group’s engineers based in Imola have combined dynamic driving comfort with sustainable value. The ZERO relies on sophisticated technology to achieve this. The chassis is based on an extremely light aluminium framework that was developed for motor racing and ensures there is a high degree of protection for the occupants. The urban runabout only weighs about 550 kilograms and therefore fulfils the requirements for sportingly efficient driving in an optimal manner. The centrally located three-phase asynchronous motor used for the rear-wheel drive accelerates the car from 0-50 km/h in five seconds with a maximum torque of 150 Newton metres. The vehicle’s lithium battery has a capacity of 12.3 kWh and a range of up to 140 km.

The battery system can be recharged using any conventional 230-volt socket. Optional extras are provision for being able to use a rapid-charging device as well as a suitable three-phase quick charger. The vehicle can then be recharged to 80 per cent capacity in less than an hour. Normal charging using a domestic power socket and the vehicle’s standard charger takes about six hours. Despite the astonishing driving performance, the energy consumption is about EUR2.50/100 km. The 15-kW ‘strong’ motor makes it possible to reach a maximum speed of up to 90 km/h. Four different accelerations are possible (Race, Rain, Standard and Economy). Aluminium is also used for the 15-inch wheels, which are available in three different colours.
