Euroguss 2012: Meeting place of the die casting branch in Nuremberg

Euroguss 2012
16.01.12 -
The international die casting trade will be meeting at Euroguss from 17 to 19 January 2012 on the exhibition grounds in Nuremberg. Around 400 exhibitors and more than 7000 trade visitors are expected. The economic situation in the die casting industry has considerably improved again after the financial and economic crisis. Figures in the branch are near the old record levels.

Euroguss is the only event that embodies the entire die casting process chain: from high-tech machinery to new materials and efficient services. Local die casting experts as well as those abroad take advantage of Euroguss to make preparations for pending investments and to look for solutions to their technical needs. For the first time in Hall 7, the International Die Casting Congress is taking place alongside Euroguss. Additional highlights: the special show, “Forschung, die Wissen schaf(f)t” [Research that Generates Knowledge], and the announcement of the winners of the international aluminium die casting and zinc die casting competitions.

Euroguss 2012 is taking place in a boom period for die casting. The branch has again picked up speed, because the automotive industry, the main buyer of die cast products, is doing splendidly. The total of roughly 235 German die casting foundries considerably increased their production in the 1st half-year of 2011. In comparison to the 1st half-year of 2010 production increased by 47 per cent from 178,020 to 261,587 tonnes. At 232,020 tonnes, which is over 89%, aluminium had the largest share of total die casting production in the 1st half-year of 2011. Magnesium registered production of 7742 tonnes (1.3%), and 21,615 tonnes (8.3%) was poured in zinc die casting in the first two quarters of 2011.

The degree of increase can be explained by the outstanding growth rates of the respective consumer sectors. Especially in the automotive industry, where over three quarters of total European die casting production is delivered, there has been and remains an enormous level of demand for die casting. The electric and electronics industry, too, signalled steady economic activity over the next months. The area of machinery and plant construction still expects real increases in the middle term, and the main consumer, automobile manufacturing, is still assuming growth of 6% for the current year. In the coming year, according to statements of the main users of die casting, it is highly likely that the current year’s high level will continue.
