About the GDA
The aluminium industry is a key branch of the economy and makes a very significant contribution to the development of Germany's position as a location for investment and production. The innovative capability of the sector, the economic power of the aluminium industry and the versatility and variety of the possible applications of aluminium as a material play a special role.
The aluminium industry is characterised by close interaction between the individual links in the value-added chain – metal production, manufacture of semi-finished product, final product. The close co-operation with almost every branch of industry forms the cornerstone for technological advance and innovation, and contributes towards improving living standards.
Mission
The mission of Gesamtverband der Aluminiumindustrie (GDA) is complex and comprehensive. The central task is to establish acceptance and understanding for the material aluminium and products made from it.
Sustainable Development
The guiding principles of sustainability and environmental protection are central aims of the aluminium industry. GDA supports the industry in its endeavour to realise the objectives of sustainability.

Organisation of Association
GDA is a federation of product-oriented specialist trade associations that represents the overall objectives of the branch of industry. Technical matters are dealt with at the product-group level.
Co-Operation
Co-operation with other associations and organisations at national and international level is very important in order to achieve GDA’s objectives. GDA works together in a network with a wide range of very different organisations.
